Mallorca has a rich cultural heritage that has been influenced by the Muslim past settlements, including some Medieval buildings that will charm visitors. The Cathedral of Palma, the Santa Eulalia Church, the Castle of Bellver, the walls in Alcudia and Gaudi’s cultural heritage are just a few examples, and very worth visiting, by the way.
As to modern architecture, the city of Palma has started a set of projects to refurbish most of it. In the meantime, pay a visit to some of the old noble houses in the capital’s historical centre, with their characteristic inner yards and the traditional posesiones- big houses- at the different villages, which is one of the most traditional architectonic features of Mallorca.
We also recommend to have a look at the Megalithic monuments, as the so called talaiots, navetes and taules. which can be traced back to between years 1800 and 1500 b.C. and represent one of the most ancient architectonic forms in Spain.
