San Sebastián - January 20th
The town has its local fiesta almost the whole month of January, including a wide range of activities. The fireworks to honour the patron saint are very popular, as well as the open-air concerts, with main Spanish music celebrities, although the most popular attraction are the street barbecues, where people can cook their own dinner.
Les Valentes Dones - Sóller
The village of Sóller has its local fiesta during the second week of May, and it’s called the Fires i Festes de Maig, celebreated in memory of the 'Valentes dones' (brave women).
Sant Antoni Abat - January 17th
One of the most traditional celebrations on the Balearic Islands, held every year on the 17th of June.
Festa de l'Àngel - March/April
The next Sunday after Easter time it takes place at many spots in Mallorca what is known as la Fiesta del Ángel, a religious pilgrimage that can be traced back to year 1407. The most outstanding one takes place at the Bellver Castle, in Palma, where more than 20,000 people gather every year to enjoy this public-spirited fiesta.
Festa des Vermar - Binissalem
September is the month when the grape harvest takes place, and it’s also the time when Binissalem has its local fiesta, known as “la Festa des Vermar”(the harvest party). During nine days, the town is alive with different activities and the best wine.
Fiestas de Pollença - August 2nd
No doubt Pollença’s local fiesta is the most popular and crowded outside the island’s capital. It starts at 5:00 in the morning ( that’s the party’s eve) at daybreak, known as the traditional Alborada. The party goes on with dances, drums, a procession, and a magnificent parade of the Moros y Cristianos battle. As a culmination to the fiesta, enjoy the intense fireworks. |
